Want to get one last ride in before the calendar flips over to 2023? Want to tack on almost 27 additional miles and just over 1,400’ of elevation gain to your 2022 totals? Want to get this done before noon so you have time to prep for those later celebrations? Don’t really care about any of the above but just want to get out an enjoy riding with other area cyclist? Well, this event might be for you.

I’m coordinating this “One Last Ride” for the 4th year now. Ride will be starting at 9:00am sharp from the Paxtang Trailhead of the Capital Area Greenbelt and will travel in a counter clockwise direction for just under 27 miles. Route offers 3 notable climbs; Reservoir Hill in Harrisburg, Fairmount Ave/High Street in West Fairview and Center St Bridge crossing the Conodoguinet up to 21st St in Camp Hill.

A mid ride break is planned at the Camp Hill Mart located at the intersection of State/Gettysburg/Carlisle Rd (like previous years). For those interested, possible coffee/ice cream/other treat stop just before rides end at The Tiger Eye in Paxtang, across from the Fire Company along Derry St (pending hours of operation for the day).

Targeted pace will be 12.5-13 MPH average with a slower pace likely on climbs and faster on those descents (weather and conditions permitting). Feel free to ride off the front if you would like. Providing you hold this advertised pace, you will not be dropped. If thinking your pace will be slower, have a riding buddy with you please and ensure at least one of you have the route (electronic or hardcopy).

This event is being cross promoted with the East Shore Bikers Facebook Group (ESB). You do not need to be a member of BMV or ESB to participate in this ride. Helmet and working front and rear lights strongly encouraged.
