Abandoned PA Turnpike Tunnel mixed surface ride
December 3, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Calling all Adventure Cyclists! On 12/3/22 we will departing at 11am on the Abandoned PA Turnpike Mixed Surface loop. Ride is 32 miles with Ride with GPS 3200 vertical (I suspect our head units will show more than 3200). After the ride some of us will have lunch at Bob Evans in Breezewood. What to expect: the tunnels require a bright light on your bike. There is a 4 mile climb on this route. We will wait at the top of all hills for anyone (probably myself) that falls behind on the climbs. Ride requires a gravel bike / gravel tires.
Aside from that expect a lot of great views, tunnel exploring and fun! Hope to see some of you on the ride. Expect 3.5-4 hours for this ride.
**This ride will only go if the weather is good**. Any chance of snow or ice and we will cancel. RSVP here or by text (my cell 717-649-3639). I have never done this ride so not 100% sure on parking. Below I have listed the Mt Zion church for parking- it is immediately up the street from the trail head. There may be parking along route 30 which should be another option.
